The new teal and orange brigades are the 800-lb. gorillas in this expansion, but all the brigades got a boost of some sort. Each of the other six evil brigades has five to seven new Evil Characters and five or six new Enhancements, a mixture of reprinted cards and new cards that mesh with the new strategies introduced. In particular, the cultural themes of each brigade are significantly enhanced.

Oh, my brothers, this is a real horrorshow brigade. The Priests, Redemption’s new expansion for 2006, features a number of new wrinkles to spice up old gameplay, and this series of articles will highlight some of those wrinkles. Nowhere is this change more apparent than in the addition of two brand new brigades. The only other brigade introduced since the beginning of Redemption was the silver brigade in the 1999 Warriors expansion. And just as the silver brigade focused exclusively on angels, the new teal brigade is comprised entirely of priests and the new orange brigade is comprised entirely of demons. Though there have been both priests and demons in other brigades prior to this release, all priests from now on will be printed in teal, and all demons will be printed in orange. Counting Cards

You took my queen. I had a ten. I needed that queen.Redemption is a game that is rich in depth and strategy, but like nearly all card games, a deck of cards will carry with it an element of chance. One way to make sure a deck makes the best use of its strategy is by minimizing the impact that chance has on how the deck is played. There are many ways to do this, and today we are going to look at the most basic way to maximize effect by minimizing chance: by controlling the size and makeup of your deck.

The Rule of Sevens

Spot builds his decks this way. So should you.In my previous article, we discussed the basic strategic principle of maximizing effect by minimizing chance. Another way by which we can reach this goal is by paying attention to the types of cards that are put into decks. All the power cards in the world won’t win you any Lost Souls unless you have Heroes. And all the best Heroes in the game will struggle if you don’t find a way around those Artifacts. Balance is the key to making sure you get to the cards you need, instead of being stuck with a handful of useless Enhancements that you don’t want to discard.
